About Us

For more than 110 years, Greyhound Australia has connected people and places across the country. As Australia’s only national coach company, our teams play an important role in helping customers experience the heart of Australia safely and comfortably.

Now part of Entrada Travel Group, we’re building on our proud history with a strong focus on safety, service and the future of travel. For our depot teams, it’s a chance to be part of a trusted national business and keep people, freight and communities connected.

 About the Role

Based in Alice Springs, this full-time Depot Supervisor role puts you at the centre of our local operations - keeping coach services, freight and mail moving safely, accurately and on time. Reporting to the Operations Supervisor in Darwin, you’ll be Greyhound’s senior representative on site, leading the day-to-day running of the depot and supervising the Freight Customer Service Officer.

This isn’t a desk-only role. It’s practical leadership, hands-on work and real responsibility - keeping the depot running and stepping in alongside your team when it counts.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating arriving and departing coach services, preparing coaches and driver documents, and managing service disruptions on site
  • Overseeing freight and mail acceptance, loading, transfers, deliveries and collections, including load plans, freight cut-offs and time-critical consignments
  • Leading the Freight Customer Service Officer, setting daily priorities and working alongside them on two-person tasks, with hands-on freight cover during absences, busy periods and disruptions
  • Helping customers, agents and other depots with enquiries, keeping them informed and promoting Greyhound’s freight services
  • Managing cash, payments, banking and reconciliations, and keeping depot records and reporting accurate and up to date
  • Keeping the depot, vehicles and equipment safe, secure and well maintained, including coordinating pre-start checks, repairs, supplies and local contractors
  • Maintaining safety and compliance standards, including fitness for duty checks, fatigue management and prompt reporting of hazards and incidents

About You

You’re a practical, organised team leader with experience in freight, logistics, transport or depot operations. You’re comfortable taking ownership of the day’s priorities, making sound decisions and getting involved in the work yourself.

You work confidently with a manager based elsewhere, know when to escalate an issue and communicate clearly with customers and colleagues. Whether you’re coordinating a departure, helping with freight or balancing the banking, you take pride in doing the job properly and safely.

You’ll bring:

  • Experience supervising or leading a small team, along with experience in freight, logistics, transport or depot operations
  • Knowledge of freight handling, consignment and load planning practices
  • Experience handling cash, reconciling payments and keeping accurate records
  • Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office and booking or freight systems
  • A strong safety mindset and working knowledge of manual handling, fatigue management and fitness for duty requirements
  • Clear communication, a customer-focused approach and the ability to manage time-critical tasks and competing priorities
  • A current driver licence
  • A forklift licence (LF), or willingness to obtain one
  • Completion of “Administer the implementation of fatigue management strategies”, or willingness to complete it
  • Knowledge of the coach transport industry, experience with freight booking and coach management systems, or a qualification in logistics, transport or a related field - desirable but not essential

You’ll also need to be available outside ordinary hours when needed to support late or disrupted services, including reasonable additional hours. The role involves hands-on freight handling and forklift operation, so you’ll need to be able to perform these tasks safely. Relevant employment screening and compliance with Greyhound’s fatigue management and fitness for duty policies, including drug and alcohol testing, are requirements of the role.
