About the Role

No Leading Hand experience required – if you’re a qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic ready to step up, lead a team, and grow your career, we want to hear from you.

We will help with the move. Relocation assistance provided.

Come to Brisbane and join our team. The opportunity is available for a reliable, motivated and safety conscious individual, who takes pride in their work. This is a full time position 40 hours per week, 6 weeks annual leave per year, onsite parking and monthly BBQs.

Reporting to the Workshop Forepersons, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading a team of Mechanics and Trades Assistants and assigning daily work schedule
  • Responding to breakdowns either over the phone or in person
  • Ensuring coaches and other Greyhound vehicles are in sound working order
  • Assist in the detection of mechanical and electrical faults
  • Assist the mechanics when required
  • Ensure a safety-first mindset and comply with safe work practices, processes and procedures
  • Accurately recording data in workshop system
  • Providing leave coverage for the Workshop Foreperson

Essential Experience and Criteria

You will be trade qualified with sound mechanical experience. Experience with Scania and Volvo vehicles in the coach and/or truck industry is an advantage, as is having an HR licence.

To be successful in these positions, you will need:

  • Reliability and flexibility to do shiftwork
  • Take the afterhours breakdown phone every 3 weeks
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain mechanical processes in a way that is easy to understand
  • Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision to meet deadlines
